A2 Starter Project (Busted)

To prepare for our second year of Media Studies, we were first of all tasked with making a music video for  a choice of 5 different songs. I chose the classic Livin' On A Prayer by Bon Jovi with my group of 2 other people. After learning the lyrics and filming one another sing, we cut out the audio and edited our video together for the first few minutes of said song. One we had finished this task, we were told that, in two seperate groups, our class would have to remake the first verse and chorus of Busted's song "That's What I Go To School For". After many hours of casting, risk assessment and planning, we began to re-film the music video shot-by-shot in order to make sure it was all accurate and as similar as we could make it. However, problems arose when various members of our group failed to turn up, so we were at a disadvantage and were pressured for time. Eventually, we decided that our best bet would be to film as many scenes as we could and work with what we had as we could not have any more time filming. After gathering the scenes that we were actually able to film, we discovered that there were only few that we could not get and that they were not of major importance. Our group then edited our music video together individually as editing as a group we not be feasible. I personally learned that, during the production task, it was very important to be coordinated and was far more important than I anticipated. During our shoot, obviously, time and cast not turning up were both the primary issues, but next time I would make sure that I only cast people who are 100% reliable. Editing my music video went quite well bar the fact that an occasional scene was missing, however this was worked around quite effectively, I believe. I personally think that next time, I could give myself more time to edit to ensure that I do not rush and I get all the scenes perfectly placed. I've learnt how to use Premiere Pro quite effectively and, more specifically, I learnt how to cut scenes in half to reuse in other areas.
